Beyond Diasporas: Discovering Armenia

Welcome to my first visit to Armenia! I look forward to the adventure of an artist residency, three different placements coordinated in collaboration with the Armenian Volunteer Corps, and perhaps most significantly, experiencing my “homeland” among people who share much of my DNA, speak my mother tongue, and have cultural roots that go back thousands of years. Stay tuned.

Mythical Homelands is a travel journal dedicated to meeting Armenia as it is today. I hope to avoid any expectations, preconceptions, and prejudgments. My artist project has served as the starting point for my journey. After arranging an artist residency with Nest Residency (affiliated with ICA (The Institute of Contemporary Art), I connected with AVC (the Armenian Volunteer Corps) to arrange placements aligned with my project. This plan provides structure, a program of activities, and many ways to document my experience over a six-week stay.
